Die2mrw007 Posted August 28, 2012 Report Posted August 28, 2012 How to Root Motorola Defy (MB525) and Motorola Defy+ (MB526) For Motorola Defy MB525 and Motorola Defy+ MB526 (except bootloader7): Easiest Rooting method using SuperOneClick: Procedure: 1. Download Motorola Drivers package from here: 32-bit / 64-bit Or from attachments below If your windows operating system is a 32-bit structure, download the 32-bit compatible driver and if your windows operating system is 64-bit, download the 64-bit compatible driver. 2. Download SuperOneClick Program from here 3. Enable USB Debugging on your device by going to Settings >> Applications >> Development 4. Open SuperOneClick.exe and then click on "Root" button. 5. The program will start its work and wait until it finishes the whole rooting task and providing you with a successful root message. The phone may reboot after the program completes the rooting procedure. 6. Your phone is rooted. Now that you need to make sure whether the rooting task actually was successful or not by checking the current root status of your phone using this application from google play store: Root Checker or you can download it from attachments below (click here). 7. If the root method didn't work try using the PSNeuter exploit method inside SuperOneClick program. Rooting procedure for Motorola Defy+ MB526 (Bootloader7): . Same as step 1 of defy. 2. Download all the links below a. RSD Lite 5.7 b. 1st Flash file (Mega Link) c. 2nd Flash File (Mega Link) 3. Install RSD Lite 4. Enable USB Debugging on your device by going to Settings>Applications>Development (This is important) 5. Power Off you phone and enter Bootmenu. To enter Bootmenu, Keep Power+Volume down button pressed Then when you see an android with exclamation mark in a triangle, Press Volume up+Volume down together. 6. Wipe Data/factory reset & Wipe Cache Partition (Remember if you want to backup just in-case, please do so before wiping) 7. Reboot after wiping & when you reach main screen, just skip the starting logging in with Google, go straight to settings & enable USB Debugging, then power off again. 8. Now time to enter the bootloader menu (Press Power+Volume up), you should see a screen like shown in image below 9. Run RSD Lite, and plug your phone to the pc. Check image below [img width=673 height=420] 10. Click on your phone from the list, select the 1st Flash file from the list and click Start. ( Please be patient & wait till the process complete) 11. Repeat Steps 5 through 10, But this time use the 2nd Flash file instead of the 1st. 12. After its flashed, make sure you do a quick wipe before using it (Follow step 6) 13. Install & Run SndInitDefy_2.3.apk which can be found in attachments below. 14. Your phone is now rooted. Now that you need to make sure whether the rooting task actually was successful or not by checking the current root status of your phone using this application from google play store: Root Checker or you can download it from attachments below (click here). Troubleshoot: If you phone is stuck in the boot animation page (the red Motorola symbol)...boot loop for more than 15 minutes! If it’s just not starting!!! Don't worry!! Open the battery!! Shut down the phone!! Start the phone again in stock recovery mode!! Wipe data...wipe cache!!! And your phone should start. If your phone is not starting at all OR showing a black screen, then there is a possibility u have bricked you phone!! Don't worry!! Just load into bootloader mode again and flash with the first file!! The official sbf!! Using rsd lite. Your phone will be on again! But you'll have to try rooting again!! Best of luck!!: Quote
