It seems that you keep the phone on and don't do much use of it. Using mobile internet connection drains the battery faster then the earlier ROMs. Please do a check and you will find it. Another important thing that swap is not supported on any of the ROMs for this device. I am not sure what could be the reason. I have tried searching almost everywhere, however could not get any solution yet.

Try it one more time by following the instructions blindly. You should not face any problem. Make sure your computer has the driver updated. The best way to know this is connect your mobile as switched off and see if it identifies it as Alcatel OT 918. Check it in Device manager. If you find it there, there should not be any problem rooting the Phone. I have tried it and was successful. You also can install the latest rom "http://forum.gizmolord.com/custom-rom's/flashable-ics-2-3-6v4-final-wblue-ledblinking-for-alcatel-918n-2-3-6/msg86666/#msg86666" This already has the root as default, but make sure you back up your stock rom. Hope you hear some good news from your end.

Follow the installation blindly. If you still face any problem, let me know what is the SD card partition size and format. Also how did you format it(I meant by recovery or on a computer)?

Could you advise me the steps to apply swapper step by step on fat32 partition. I have tried to follow many steps, alas it does not create the swap file. It takes hours and still the same. Any help will be appriciated.

I tried this ROM, but it seems it eats up a lot of battery. Can it be taken care, I used to get approx 40-50% of battery life at the end of the day, however it seems last night it dropped to 8%. This could be a draw back on this rom. I might need to go back to the old ROM. I could not understand, the applications are lesser then the earlied rom and background applications are not much, still it eats up the battery. Any idea??

Installed and working fine. great lockscreen. few changes I have found about int2ext and camera, camera is the similar one like the original one(with sound ) and we need to run the int2ext script to activate it. Good news is market issue fixed. I have downloaded 16 mb without any error message . let's see how stable it is now.

Waiting for long time for this, will surely install it today. +10 for this.

I thought Cache Fixer might help, however its not. Can anyone advise any other way to bypass error 498 on this Rom. I am not able to download any files that has more then 2 mb in size. This Rom is excellent, but missing many apps from the market. Please help

Error 498 usually happens for cache, clearing cache will resolve the issue. You can try Cache Fixer, and increase the cache memory.

Yes My friend, I am using an IDEA ID 918(Alcatel OT 918N) I did a clean installation. Let me describe you the process. I partitioned my microSD card as 6.4 GB Fat32 and 1 GB as ext2 Placed the files to the location as you mentioned. Did a data wipe, cache wipe and Delvik cache wipe. Restored the phone and restarted. Some time it comes up fine and after few days with a restart it starts creating proble. Some time I get lot of FC, I restart the Phone 4-5 times, and still get the error. Some time boot screen gets a loop. I like this ROM a lot, and want to keep it, but feel very sad once it crusher. Do you get the same problem. I am using a Class 4 memory card. will that be an issue?

I dont know, but this Rom is crushing a lot. Till now I have installed it more then 25 times. It works for a while and suddenly after a restart it crushes. I am fed up now of installing the OS and application everytime. Can this be taken care please.
