Which is the best OS for netbooks?

I have a Compaq Mini 700 and want to change my OS.

Currently I used xp!

Please help me! :)

Win Xp is the only best OS for your netbook as its an Atom processor.

Even you can run Ubuntu (which is linux based)

Win7 Home Premium/Starter could be run, but you will experience some slow down of your netbook  (Not really slow...but still not as fast as WinXp).

How slow will win7 be? and what about win8?

Try Windows7 Home basic/Home premium then

Okie!!

Thanks alot! :)

Even I was thinking the same! :)

Can you give me the link as to how should I put it in my netbook?

I am newbie and I don't think I will be able to customize BIOS without destroying it! :\

Which is the safest and easiest way?

And thanks, thanks alot!! :D

as i see, there might not be any cd/dvd rom in ur netbook.

So the only option to instal any OS is through pendrive

u wil need to download win7 in .iso format

u wil need atleast a 4gb pendrive for this task.

Download a tool named "universal usb installer"

using univesal usb instalr, copy the setup files frm .iso image to pendrive.

In bios, select 1st boot device to ur pendrive.

Save the bios settings and restart ur phone

upon restart it wil automaticaly detect files frm pendrive and start the win7 installation wizard.

Jst follow as per the instructions in setup wizard :)

and welcome to win7 family ;)

And how complicated is it for a newbie?

I mean, I won't destroy my BIOS right?

These steps are easy to do even for a newbie? :)

Oh! Ok!

And after that?

The instructions given here do not mention anything about changing the bios etc and says it will install then also!

What should I do?

Yeah, aftr copying files to pen drive, jst go to bios settings of ur pc. . .and select ur pendrive as 1st boot device. . .save it

Then it wil start the setup frm ur pendrive :)
