How to create a free self hosted Blog

Tutorial by Die2mrw007

For starting a website, you will need:

1. A Domain : Domain names are used to identify one or more IP addresses. For example, the domain name microsoft.com represents about a dozen IP addresses. Domain names are used in URLs to identify particular Web pages. For example, in the URL http://www.gizmolord.com/about, the domain name is gizmolord.com.

2. Hosting: A web h?sting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own or lease for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center.

Now to attain this two requirements, we will need to purchase domain and hosting both.

Free Domain: Get a Free domain with DNS service from Here (Register at this site)

Free CPanel Hosting: Get a Free Cpanel Hosting from Here (Register at this site)

(Choose any domain as per your wish as we will not need it as we already registered a co.cc domain in the previous step.) The account will take time to get activated.

Setting up Domain for the website.

Login to your co.cc account

Click on the registered domain you selected

Click on Setup

Click on 1st Option: Name Server (DNS)

Update this info as mentioned:

Name Server 1 : ns1.x10hosting.com

Name Server 2 : ns2.x10hosting.com

Click on "Setup"

Setting up Website.

Login to your x10hosting account

Click on "Access CPanel"

Click on Softalacous

Click on "Blogs"

Click on Wordpress

Click on "Install" tab

Software setup page will be displayed.

Choose Protocol: Select "http://" or "http://www" as desired.

Choose Domain: Your default domain name will be displayed here. (As I have not setup my co.cc domain with x10hosting, its showing the default x10hosting domain name I selected at registration in the provided screenshot.)

In Directory: Leave it blank if u need to have your site at main domain.

Database Name: You can use the random name generated or else can specify your desired database name

Table Prefix: leave it default.

Site Name: Input your site name here

Site Description: Type a one liner for your website.

Enable Multisite (WPMU): Leave the selection box Untick, unless you know what you doing or are aware of Multisite option.

Admin Username: Input the desired username

Admin Password : Input the desired password

Admin Email: Input your email here.

Select Language: English

Click on "Install"

Done... Your Wordpress site will be setup and will be ready to use :)

When the progress bar reaches 100%, your website will be ready to use :)

After that you can try importing stuffs :)

BTW, Importing a blog is different. Its not done using softaculous...see here: http://forum.gizmolord.com/index.php?topic=1860.0

But after the completion of progress bar...

It opens the blog as the web address we used at time of sign up at x10hosting...

Not the one we made at co.cc :(

@die.. Update the post with one more line.. Softaculous also provides Backup facility for databases installed. Just as you install the blog/forum immediately you can create a backup for it in your www_home directory at x10. Once the backup is made you can download it to your PC from there. Its really useful as x10 doesnt provide Backup function for free users.

which is entechnews.x10.ms

now i want ti to b gadgetech.co.cc!! Specify it how to do!!.

In co.cc, goto setup Domain, Name Servers .... Then add the name servers of x10 hosting i.e ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com.

Then at your x10's cPanel, go to Add on Domains ..... enter your Domain gadgetech.co.cc

The below fields will be filled automatically :P See the Image

Thnen click on Add Doamin

Thats it ..... NOW Go to Softaculous and Install your Blog as die's above tutorial ;)

Do it after setting up the Domain only. coz in Softaculous, while installing, there is an option saying "Choose Domain"... there you have to select your custom domain(gadgetech.co.cc) from the drop down menu list See the image :)

Hope you are getting .... Do it first and tell me here :P

After installing WordPress, Just go to the the Link, in your case it might be gadgetech.co.cc. To go to its Dashboard/Admin panel, the link would be gadgetech.co.cc/wp-admin/, Login there with the username and Password you set while Installing WordPress through Softaculous ;)

Now you have a Dashboard to Add posts, Import, etc........ from there on you can do your Own :P
