  • CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login. RC version are always in testing mode and there are chances you may face some bug.

    Either of it :)
it doesnt really matter. A rooted device can always have additional level of operations and tweaks.
A permanent root means the ROM will be pre rooted
Temporary root means the ROM actually isnt rooted and you need to do this manually. It will last only until you reset your device. Whereas in permanent root, it will stay rooted even after you reset your device.
